For those looking to incorporate ethical concerns more deeply into their corporate structure or R&D process, I offer two services as a consultant.

Ethics Consulting

The question shouldn't be "Can we get away with it?" but rather "Is it the right thing to do?" A famous tech company had the slogan, "Don't be evil." The problem is it's not always obvious what is or isn't evil. Consulting with an ethicist on sticky problems can help.

I offer consulting services to tech firms on ethical issues. I provide advice on individual projects, broader corporate programs or even whole company structures. My consulting goes beyond questions of legality and compliance and deals with questions of whether or not particular technologies, marketing strategies, production, research, or even long-term effects or morally ideal. I also help create policies and roadmaps to ensure long-term ethical action.

Ethics Education

We want our employees to not just be good workers, but to be good workers. Ethical education is important at all levels of the company to train employees to recognize moral problems in their work and resolve them in an ethically good way.

I offer 4, 8 or 12 week courses for your employees on ethics in technology. Classes will meet once a week for three-hour sessions and employees enrolled in classes will have reading assignments. Classes will include lectures, discussions, role playing and, if time permits, actual analysis of current projects employees are working on.
